FlooredByArt -What in a Name, My old friend.

Welcome to FlooredByArt

What's in a name?

Over time, folks ask me, Why Floored by Art?  Especially since I sometimes get mistaken for a flooring store. I am an artist, and I love all things art. Sometimes I can get completely wrapped up in a piece of art, to the point where it can leave me completely speechless.

I just want to stare at it for hours, trying to figure out the colors, the method, the setting... I could easily become “floored” or stunned by the artwork.  So I was “Floored by the Art."

I was floored!

The Urban Dictionary defines the word “floored” as a state of being saturated in a particular emotion. To be stunned or overwhelmed. Thirty years ago, when I came up with the name of my art business, it wasn't an obscure conversational word. It was used frequently. But times change, and it is less recognized.  The business name, however, has stuck with me.  All these years, we have been like old friends.  The good and the bad are part of me.

This store, for me, is about sharing my love of art with you. I will be taking obsure art out of the dark box, dusting it off, and trying to make it relevant again. Through art, we are tied to the past. Art is a veil into what was and a reflection of what is now.

Art is a historical tool.

Art is a tool of history; it is more than just a pretty picture. It records a snapshot of what was important at the time.

I am not an art expert; I am an art lover.

I am a one-woman business, which may bother some art friends and delight others. What it means for you, however, is:

  • One-of-a-kind pieces
  • Undivided attention
  • 30+ years of customer service
  • Customization available

Your purchase begins and ends with me.  I have a lot of experience pleasing customers.  I have built amazing 5-star reputations on Etsy and eBay for over 30 years.  But now, it is time to do my own thing.  I hope you will join me on this journey of exploring art and artists!
